Genre: Horror

Types of Horror movies:

Psychological Horror usually deals with a mental and emotional state. Its set to disturb and unsettle viewers.
Splatter films focus specifically on the graphic portrayal of gore and graphic violence.
Home Invasion/ Survival focuses on a video game aspect, but the game is frightening and used to scare the audience, it also adds thrilling effect when seeing the character trying to escape the game.

we would want to use more of the psychological horror in our production as we can play with imagery and it will be better or using hidden themes.

Characters

Characters in the horror genre are hard to categorize, but here are just a few.
The Non-Believer, they usually believe their fellow other characters are overreacting, they tend to be overconfident and some times end up being the first to die.
The Hero is usually isn't in all films, but they tend to show emotion throughout the film and support the other characters. they are usually the ones to survive.
another character in the horror genre would the Hysterical character, they usually stay behind and break down into hysterical moments. they get killed off usually early in the film.

There's a ton of types of characters we could use for the production, I don't believe I will be using the hero character because in our production were trying to portray that there us no heroes.

Plot aspects;
In horror films, plot aspects are hard to label.
common plots include a villain who terrorizes the main characters, this villain usually kills off characters one by one until they get the main character. Paranormal activity is another aspect that is used in many horror films, they usually have scary things like ghost and demons in the area. recently a lot of films have been using unseen presences in horror films, an example of this would be Birdbox (2018), there was a presence there but the audience can't see what is it.

in our production, I feel I would want to either use the villain or the unseen presence because in these categories you can put together a really good idea for the video.

Technology:

I wanna try and use a lot of sound mixing and I feel this genre gives you a good canvas.

Genre: Comedy

There are many different types of comedy.
there is Black Comedy which is basically dark humor.
Burlesque is more of a risque type of comedy.
Romantic comedy is another type, it's usually about how the boy gets the girl or vice versa.
More genres include Satire Comedy in this genre they have an intelligent use of words, this can walk hand in hand with black comedy as well.

I want to play with all these genres in my film opening, I feel we could really benefit from the romantic comedy or the black comedy.

Characters

in our research, we found many types of characters in comedy such as. the classic dumb one, they're usually naive and extremely funny without trying. there's also the lovable loser/the logical smart one, they're usually sarcastic, witty, optimistic, and most likely responsible. another type of character would the Womanizer/Manizer, these characters are usually very seductive, charming, and superficial.

I wanna use more the lovable loser and womanizer characters in my piece, I feel it will help with the foreshadowing of the plot.

Plot Aspects:

"The Overcoming of the Monster" this plot consists of several steps such as the anticipation call, the dream stage, the nightmare stage, the nightmare stage, and the thrilling escape from death and death of monster, this "monster" can be basically any antagonist in a comedy film, for example in the movie Monster-In-Law (2005)  Jennifer Lopez's mother in law was the so-called monster.
"Rags to Riches" is a plot aspect that is used in many comedy films. this is broken down in chronological steps starting with the call, the initial success, then central crisis, independent ordeal, and completion and fulfillment.
Another Plot aspect is "The Quest" this where characters usually set out on a journey. broken down it starts with, of course, the call and then it goes into the journey, then you have arrival and frustration, and then ending with the ultimate goal.

i would like to use the quest aspect because i feel you could come up with hilarious things for a quest comedy film.
